MEET KATHRYN
Born and raised in Los Angeles County's 5th District, Kathryn Barger has dedicated her life's work to fighting to create stronger, safer and healthier communities across our region.
As our voice on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Kathryn is the representative for 22 cities as well as and 70 unincorporated communities in the San Gabriel, San Fernando, Crescenta, Antelope and Santa Clarita Valleys.
Elected to serve us in 2016, Kathryn has worked to protect women's health and reproductive freedom, invest in 911 emergency response, partnered with firefighters to expand fire stations, ensured nurses have the resources and tools they need to give high quality care to patients, invested in infrastructure to create more good paying middle class jobs while strengthening our middle class economy. She has also worked to address homelessness by prioritizing housing that is affordable and expand mental health services, including helping to lead the implementation of L.A. County's new Care Court Initiative which will place those with severe mental health issues into supervised treatment and care.
Kathryn serves our community on a range of regional boards, including for Metrolink, the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the North County Transportation Coalition, the High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Authority, the Southern California Association of Governments, the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, South Coast Air Quality Management District, among others.
